Felt Stockings

In this photo I posted about the Christmas Craft Fair I did the weekend before last you may have noticed the little stockings I had for sale.

They came about after a trip to, yes, the Scrap Store where my Mum bought this bag of Christmas coloured felt pieces for £2.00.
I think I owe her £2.00.
On the drive home we came up with the idea of making little stockings to sell.

I printed a stocking template of the internet, cut out the pieces and stitched away.
I decorated the stockings with shiny stars and ribbon.

This particular chocolate bar is the perfect size to fit in the stockings so I stocked up on those.

I made 6 stockings for that craft fair and sold 4, with one woman wanting 8 so I gave her the details of the next fair I'll be at where I'll be ready with more that enough.

I Made a Minion

Last week I went with my friends to see Despicable Me 2. I hadn't seen the first one but you don't need to to enjoy the film - because of these guys. The minions.
I think they should've done away with the main storyline and just focused on the minions.
Those guys are hilarious.

To make my minion I sewed a yellow felt tube with circles either end. I over stuffed it so the circles would dome.
Before I attached one of the circles I sewed some black embroidery thread, knotted on the back, for the hair.

Then I spent way too long trying to make the overalls, so let's just skip that bit.
For the arms I rolled up some yellow felt and sewed it down the side. The hands are two matching pieces sewn, and glued, together then sewn to the arm. To cover up the stitches I glued a strip of black felt around the wrist.

The legs are rolled up strips of denim with felt feet glued on.

The goggles are gift ribbon (stroke of genius on my part) with a strip of black felt stuck all the way around.
For the eyes I just used brown and black felt tip pens on white felt. I think it would have looked better if I'd have stitched the eyes, but ain't nobody got time for that!

Then I used a Sharpie to put the finishing touches on the overalls.

Oh minion, I'm not sure what to do with you now.
Maybe I'll sit you on my desk and you can encourage me to fill in job applications.

Pink and Purple

Here's a new painting I did just for fun.
It's the inside of a flower and it's oil paint on a little canvas board so I thought it was perfect to go on my little easel.
Then I realised there were some other things in my craft space that matched the colours.

Like this painting I did a while ago.
I got the idea online where they had used masking fluid to block out the face and then painted over it with watercolours, but I didn't have any so I used a candle to create a wax resist.
The effect is pretty much the same, it's just not quite as neat.

And then there's this pink and purple felted rock.
It's the only thing I've ever felted and I'd like to do more.

Craft-Arty Donuts

My friend had the idea for me to make a box to display my felt keyring donuts in. So I did!

I think they look pretty awesome.

And don't forget some of these are available to buy in my Etsy shop here, here, or here.

Also, this month I am sponsoring Wild Olive so go and check out that great blog. Tomorrow she's having a little question time. Fun fun.

New hairband: Pinwheel

Since my last hairband reminded my of a seaside pinwheel, I decided to make one that actually was a pinwheel.
Well, a felt pinwheel.

I used this tutorial from eighteen25 except I made mine slightly larger to make more of a statement and I attached it to a hairband as opposed to a hairclip.

Summer anyone?

Another new hairband

I've been making hairbands again. This one is just pretty things sewn onto felt which was then sewn around a hairband

The brooch was from this box of jewellery and the gems were from this bag of beads.

In other news, my number of followers now exceeds my age! Wahoo!
Welcome new followers, and holla at my old ones, thanks for being here.

Pizza

So we've all seen my felt donuts, right? Well I wanted to try making a different food out of felt, and I picked pizza.

What we have here is a delicious pepperoni pizza with a tomato sauce covered base and cheese, topped with pepperoni and green...bits. I don't know, peppers? Herbs? Either way they look cool.

Here's the break down of how I put it together.

Starbucks

One of my best friends works at Starbucks and she loves it. So last summer I made her her very own plushie Starbucks cup! This would go great with one of my donut keyrings.

(Photo, why you no move to the centre?)
Using a combination of felt and cotton I managed to sew the logo for the side of the cup.

The cup is even filled with hot, steaming felt java. A mochalatte or something. My friend would know.

ER

I'm a big fan of medical tv shows; ER, Grey's Anatomy, House, Casualty, Scrubs, and I get a little involved...
I've got two sets of scrubs (thank you NBC store and my sister's medical student friend), a stethoscope...

...and a plush syringe.
When ER finished last May I made a syringe in honour of the occasion out of felt and a silver pipe cleaner. My sister and I watched the last episode wearing my scrubs and posing with the syringe in the ad breaks.
Fun times!
