Share time

Here are some things I just wanted to share

You know I love miniatures but I also love the show Roswell, so this miniature CIA file is perfect.
Etsy Seller L Delaney has a shop full of amazing miniature items, including 'miniature office clutter'. That's insane/awesome!

Lance Cardinal began work on a Muppets Theatre playset after plans for the Palisades toy company to make one were scrapped. The detail is incredible. Check it all out here.
The back wall of the theatre is so cool!

Oh you want something topical?
Go on then:

And did any of you watch this delight?

Sha!

I really like the look of words made out of wire so I decided to make a necklace using that idea.
I got some garden wire, tackled it into shape, and then very carefully wrapped shiny thread around it.

Necklaces like this typically spell out someones name or the word 'love'. Did I do that? Oh no.

I went for the word 'sha'. If that can be considered a word.

Why sha? Just listen to the beginning of this song.

Now, I'm not completely mad for Miley, but this song happens to be my ringtone.
And I've been known to sign off emails and texts with 'sha'.

Are there any words that you use out of context, youknow, for funsies?

I was really happy with the way the necklace turned out so I made more and put them on my Etsy.

Yes I am one of those annoying people who says 'lol' out loud, but I don't intend to change!
This necklace, 'The Golden Lol', got snatched up within a few hours of me listing it.
It's the first thing I've sold on Etsy! So exciting.

This necklace is still available though. Check it out.
I like to mix things up with my greetings instead of sticking with 'hello'. I go for 'ahoy', 'aloha' even a friendly 'whaddup'.

My Craft Space

While I've been home I've made it my mission to tidy up the backroom table which is the craft space I share with my sister.
When I'm at uni my craft space is just my bed so I have to tidy it if I want to get to sleep that day.

It went from this...

...to this!
Yes there actually is a table, it was just a bit hidden before.

I've got a lot of stuff so storage is sometimes an issue. There's paintbrushes in mugs, decorated stones in a bowl, glitter in little jars. A lot of stuff.

And while I was sorting through all this stuff I rediscovered these;

I made them many years ago out of fimo. They're magnets and badges.

I actually sold some at a school fete once.
There were also cats and dogs but I guess they must have been the most popular as they're all gone

My new favourite thing to do

I've seen these pictures with the colours picked out and displayed along the bottom all over the blogs.

I went from thinking 'that looks so cool' to 'I could do that!'
All it took was a little bit of photoshop and that fun colour picker tool and now I'm hooked.

Here are some of my favourites so far from my personal photos.

Egg World: The Next Generation

Do you remember the 'Egg world's I made last year ?

Well my Mum's class (of 4/5 year olds) made some this year and here are my favourites.

Egg in a bed. Love the Tinkerbell duvet.

Egg in a tank. Great use of a bottle top for the helmet.

And penguin egg! Adorable.

Paper weaving for Mother's Day

This would make a great hand made Mother's Day card. Mums love handmade!
I actually gave my Mum a different card for Mother's Day and this was her birthday card.
Anyhoo, this is how it's made:

First select a bunch of papers. I went for all blue but a mix of different colours could look good too.

Then cut them into small strips.

Cut a shape out of a card. I went for a flower. It's a classic for Mums, right?

Figure out how wide the woven paper area needs to be based on the shape you cut out then line up strips of paper and stick some sellotape across them all at the edge.

Then start weaving.

When you're done secure the paper with sellotape all around the edges and even on the back.

Then stick the paper weaving to the inside of the card.

Your Mum will love it.

The Places I Have Been

I currently have an exhibition up at the Letchworth Arts Centre of some of my landscape paintings.

The paintings were made between 2008 and 2010 and depict places that I've been, as the title of the exhibition suggests.

There are paintings of France, New Zealand, Australia, Budleigh Salterton, Norfolk - where I go to uni, and even a couple of my hometown.

You can see some of the paintings closer up in the landscape section of my paintings page.

And of course here's the 'artist with their work' shot.

Last night the arts centre held a private view for the current exhibitions, inlcuding mine, which focused on the sticky tape project they've been working on for a long time. You can read more about it here.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

A few weeks ago I entered a giveaway on Moorea Seal and I won one of the prizes!

This little package arrived yesterday. Exciting!

It's a camera charm necklace from Ashley of After Nine to Five.
Thanks Ashley!

I love it!

I'm thinking it might be fun to turn it into a full charm necklace, and add this little guitar charm that I've had for ages.

Then I looked on Etsy for other charms I might like to add.

This artists palette from Risky Beads would be perfect.

So would one of these cute cowboy boots charms from Taylor Baskin Design

Bargain time #3

I'm back home for the Easter holidays and on Saturday I hit up a jumble sale with my Mum and scored this lot.

This bunch of fabric for 40p.
40p!
The mint green polka dot and that funky brown stuff are my favourites.
I'm thinking bows. Lots and lots of bows.

I also got Buckaroo for 20p to join my 99p Kerplunk from Oxfam. Oh yes.

In other news I finally updated my Etsy shop.
Check it out!

50s vs 60s

It was another dress-up night at the SU last week. The theme; Culture Clash 50s vs 60s.
I'm 50s, Natalie and Lucy are 60s.

There were mini dresses, poodle skirts, beehives and Twiggy lashes.
There was even a guy dressed as Andy Warhol. It is an art school after all.

All aboard the party bus!

Here's some loveliness from around the web inspired by the eras:

This sweet painting from Etsy seller Purrr.
Gossip Gossip's record bags are pretty funky.

I love this vintage 60s mini dress from Silverfish Vintage. So pretty!

Creative Steps

In the current issue of Creative Steps magazine you can find projects my moi!

These cute chick and lamb boxes.

These recycled paper nests to fill with Easter treats.

And these Mother's Day cards.

I was very odd making these Spring themed crafts at Christmas time, but it's exciting to be in print again.
